By submitting a booking enquiry, confirming a reservation, or taking possession of a vehicle from Karvelin, you indicate that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Agreement.

If you are making a booking on behalf of a company or other organisation, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these terms.

Minimum age requirement: You must be at least 18 years of age to enter into a rental arrangement. We may request proof of age before completing a handover.

If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not proceed with a booking. We are happy to clarify any section before you commit — please contact us at [email protected].

Karvelin provides short-term electric vehicle rental services operating from Tawau, Sabah, Malaysia. Our services are designed for individuals and groups seeking to explore the region using electric vehicles, with supporting materials to assist with route and charging planning.

We offer three principal service tiers: the EV Day Rental (one-day arrangement), the Three-Day EV Plan (three-day arrangement), and the Weeklong EV Touring (seven-day arrangement). Each arrangement includes supporting documentation appropriate to its duration.

Service availability: Services are subject to vehicle availability. We operate Monday to Friday, 8 am to 6 pm, and Saturday, 9 am to 3 pm. Arrangements outside these hours may be accommodated at our discretion with advance notice.

Geographic scope: Our primary service area is Tawau and the surrounding Sabah region. Inter-state use may be permitted subject to prior written agreement. Certain geographic limitations may apply to specific vehicles.

All bookings are subject to confirmation by Karvelin. Submission of an enquiry or booking form does not constitute a confirmed reservation. A booking is confirmed only when we send you a written confirmation by email or other agreed means.

You are responsible for providing accurate contact details and booking information. We are not liable for any issue arising from incorrect information supplied at the time of booking.

We reserve the right to decline any booking request at our reasonable discretion, without obligation to provide reasons.

Amendments: Requests to amend a confirmed booking should be made as early as possible. We will endeavour to accommodate changes, though this cannot always be guaranteed and may affect the applicable fee.

Cancellations: Cancellation terms, including any applicable fees or retained deposits, will be communicated at the time of booking confirmation and will form part of the individual arrangement.

You are responsible for ensuring that:

• You hold a valid driving licence appropriate to the vehicle class throughout the rental period.
• You are medically and physically fit to operate a vehicle safely.
• You comply with all applicable Malaysian road traffic laws, regulations, and local by-laws during the rental period.
• The vehicle is operated only by persons named and authorised in the booking confirmation.
• You return the vehicle at the agreed time, location, and in the condition in which it was received, subject to normal use.
• You report any damage, incident, or mechanical issue to us as soon as practicable.
• You do not sub-let, transfer, or otherwise allow unauthorised use of the vehicle.

You agree not to use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in any manner that could bring Karvelin into disrepute.

Vehicles are provided for private road use on approved routes only. The following activities are not permitted:

• Use of the vehicle off-road or on unpaved tracks not reasonably accessible to standard passenger vehicles.
• Use in motor sports, racing, or competitive driving.
• Transportation of goods or passengers for commercial hire.
• Towing or using the vehicle to propel another vehicle or object.
• Driving under the influence of alcohol, controlled substances, or any impairing medication.
• Crossing national borders without prior written consent from Karvelin.

You are responsible for ensuring adequate charging throughout the rental period. Route planning materials and charging maps are provided as guidance only. Karvelin does not warrant the availability, operational status, or access conditions of any third-party charging point.

Late returns may incur additional fees. Please contact us promptly if you anticipate difficulty returning the vehicle at the agreed time.

All Content on the Karvelin website and in our supporting materials — including route plans, charging guides, text, graphics, and branding — is the property of Karvelin or its licensors and is protected under Malaysian and applicable international intellectual property law.

We grant you a limited, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to access and use Content solely for the purpose of using our Service during an active booking. This licence does not permit reproduction, redistribution, commercial use, or modification of any Content.

Any Content you submit to us (such as feedback or route notes) may be used by Karvelin to improve our services. You retain ownership of such content but grant us a non-exclusive licence to use it for this purpose.

All fees are quoted and payable in Malaysian Ringgit (RM). The current service fees are:

• EV Day Rental — RM 600 per day
• Three-Day EV Plan — RM 2,200 per three-day period
• Weeklong EV Touring — RM 4,500 per seven-day period

Payment terms, including deposit requirements and due dates, will be specified in the booking confirmation. Karvelin reserves the right to adjust fees for future bookings with reasonable prior notice.

Accepted payment methods will be confirmed at the time of booking. Karvelin does not store card or financial account details.

Refund policy: Refund eligibility and conditions are specific to each arrangement and will be communicated at booking confirmation. Refunds, where applicable, are processed within a reasonable timeframe and will be returned via the original payment method where practicable.

You are responsible for any applicable Malaysian taxes or duties arising from your use of the Service.

For all arrangements, the scope of any included materials is described in the relevant service description and booking confirmation. Scope changes must be agreed in writing.

The Service is provided on an "as available" basis. While we take reasonable care to ensure vehicles are roadworthy and supporting materials are accurate, we do not make warranties of any kind — express or implied — beyond those required by applicable Malaysian law.

We do not warrant that third-party charging infrastructure referenced in our materials will be available, functional, or accessible at the time of your journey. Charging network availability is subject to factors outside our control.

Nothing in this Agreement constitutes professional driving, route, legal, or financial advice. The information and materials we provide are intended to support, not replace, your own planning and judgement.

Karvelin is not responsible for road conditions, traffic, weather events, or other circumstances that may affect your journey.

To the fullest extent permitted by Malaysian law, Karvelin's total liability to you for any claim arising from or in connection with this Agreement shall not exceed the total fees paid by you for the specific arrangement giving rise to the claim.

Karvelin will not be liable for any indirect, consequential, special, or incidental losses, including loss of profit, loss of data, loss of opportunity, or reputational damage, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such losses.

Force majeure: We are not liable for failure or delay in performing our obligations where such failure arises from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural events, government actions, infrastructure failures, or other events not reasonably foreseeable at the time of booking.

Nothing in this Agreement limits liability for death, personal injury caused by our negligence, or fraud, as required by applicable law.

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Karvelin, its staff, and representatives from and against any claims, losses, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:

• Your breach of any term of this Agreement.
• Your misuse of the vehicle or Service.
• Any traffic infringement, fine, or penalty incurred during the rental period.
• Any third-party claim arising from your use of the vehicle.
• Inaccurate or misleading information you provided in connection with your booking.

Either party may request early termination of an active rental arrangement. Conditions and consequences of early termination, including any applicable fees or refund adjustments, will be handled in accordance with the individual booking terms.

Karvelin reserves the right to terminate an arrangement with immediate effect and require return of the vehicle if you materially breach this Agreement, including using the vehicle for prohibited purposes or operating it unsafely.

Upon termination or expiry of the rental period, you must return the vehicle and all accompanying materials in the condition required under this Agreement. Terms relating to payment, indemnification, intellectual property, and limitation of liability survive the end of the rental arrangement.

Governing law: This Agreement is governed by the laws of Malaysia. For disputes arising in Sabah, the courts of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, shall have jurisdiction, without prejudice to any rights you may have under Malaysian consumer protection law.

Informal resolution: We ask that you contact us in the first instance at [email protected] with a clear description of any concern. We are committed to addressing complaints promptly and in good faith. Most issues can be resolved through direct communication without formal proceedings.

Mediation: If informal resolution is not reached within 30 days of your written notice, either party may propose mediation through a mutually agreed mediator or an accredited mediation service in Malaysia before commencing formal legal proceedings.

Your statutory rights under the Consumer Protection Act 1999 (Malaysia) and related legislation are not affected by this Agreement.

Entire agreement: This Agreement, together with any booking confirmation, constitutes the entire understanding between you and Karvelin with respect to the Service and supersedes any prior communications or representations.

Severability: If any provision of this Agreement is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect.

Waiver: Our failure to enforce any right under this Agreement does not constitute a waiver of that right in future circumstances.

Assignment: You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under this Agreement without our prior written consent. Karvelin may transfer its obligations to a successor entity with reasonable notice.

Notices: Formal notices under this Agreement should be directed to us in writing at the address below or by email to [email protected].

Changes to these terms: We may update this Agreement from time to time. Material changes will be communicated with reasonable advance notice, either on our website or directly to customers with active bookings. Continued use of the Service following notice of changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. The current version is always available on this page.
